2024: on designing ai interfaces
currently, there is a standard clean ‘chatbot’ or ‘search’ visual interface that all mainstream ai tools are using. this is dangerous. we need to start designing visible & informative ai interfaces that actually represent what is happening under the hood. relying on this simplistic and abstract template of ai interfaces will just create a black box and insensitivity on what users think of when they use ai tools. understanding cultural contexts when it comes to understanding visual cues will accelerate adoption for ai internationally while visually communicating the agents behind what’s generating outputs.
2023 : no more ‘one-size-fits-all’ solutions
as a consumer, i see a shift in the types of products people enjoy. it’s no longer a ‘one-product-for-all’ philosophy. instead, similar solutions coexist but are tailored to specific demographics/geographies. especially ones that are built by members of the community they are building for
2021: avoiding ‘western-savior-complex’ problem solving
there’s this notion : if we want to help people, we need to propose a solution that fits their society, not disrupt their current norms. so understanding things from their perspective and not having tunnel vision is crucial to devising a plan that would fit their infrastructure the most. we NEVER want to become the person that comes with a solution with a western savior complex, especially when creating solutions for marginalized communities.
